A Healthy Breakfast for the Outdoors
This weekend why not enjoy the hot weather and make a delicious healthy breakfast you can enjoy outside? Whether you're up at the cottage, or in your backyard, this meal will surely get your day going on the right foot.
Main Ingredients:
Mushrooms: 3
Sausage: 1/4 lb (100 grams)
Eggs: 4
Olive oil: 1-2 tbsp
Salt and pepper
Directions:
1. Whisk eggs with salt and pepper.
2. Grill the sausage and mushrooms for 5 minutes or until done. Alternatively, you can fry them.
3. Cut them into small pieces.
4. Heat olive oil in a pan.
5. Transfer mushrooms and sausage pieces into the pan. Pour the egg mixture over them.
6. Cover the pan and cook on medium heat for 5-10 minutes or until done.
**For even better results, cook the sausages on the BBQ for a crispy summer taste!**

Roots Walks So Kids Can Talk
On May 6th, members of the Roots family took part in the Walk so Kids Can Talk. The event is currently the biggest walk in Canada that supports child and youth mental health and well being. Our goal was to raise $5000, and we are happy to report that we reached it earning a staggering $5784 for the cause. Way to go everyone!

Vote Now! Obama's "Green Button" Apps for Energy Competition
Here at Roots we have had the privilege of working with a company called Zerofootprint. Zerofootprint is a Toronto-based environmental software and services company with whom Roots has worked in the past.
Zerofootprint has entered the Velobill in US President Obama’s “Green Button” Apps for Energy competition hosted by the Department of Energy. It’s aimed at spotlighting and encouraging innovations that help utility customers learn about and reduce their electricity use.
Zerofootprint has developed an innovative app that helps people learn about and better manage their utility usage. The app is called the Velobill, and its focus is to take away all the confusing information on your electric, gas and water bills and turns it into one easy-to-read, useful resource.
In the first stage of the competition, the Velobill (labeled “the energy bill of the future”) placed in the top three for Best Overall App. Zerofootprint is now hoping its invention will win in the race for popular choice. As such, they are appealing for people to vote for the Velobill as the winner will receive financial support to develop the app further.
This is an opportunity for you to support a creative Canadian company in an international environmental competition.

Hesjedal makes history with his recent win at the Giro d'italia
Ryder Hesjedal of Canada celebrates after winning the Giro d'Italia cycling race in Milan, May 27, 2012.
Canadian history was made last Sunday when Ryder Hesjedal became the first Canadian to ever win one of the three Grand Tour Races. Hesjedal won the Giro d'Italia by 16 seconds despite being 31 seconds behind at the beginning of the final day. Roots is beyond proud of Hesjedal's accomplishments and want to congratulate him for a great win and for representing Canada so proudly.
